Bette Lou TimmonsJuly 3, 1934 ~ September 8, 2017 (age 83)
Bette Lou Timmons, 83, of Georgetown, DE passed away quietly at her home on Friday, September 8, 2017. She was born on July 3, 1934 in Frankford, DE to the late Elias H. and Katherine “Kitty” Sparrow Tingle.
Bette is survived by her husband of 62 years, William E. Timmons, and her stepmother, Jackie Tingle; and her two brothers: Elias “Bud” Tingle, Jr.; and Scott Rickards. Also surviving are her three sons: William “Buddy” Timmons, and his wife Aleisa, of Dagsboro, DE; Brent Timmons, and his wife Tina, of Georgetown, DE; and Dean Timmons, and his wife Diane, of Frankford, DE. Bette is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Tyler; Jesse; Brooke; Michaela; Noah; Katherine; Sarah; Elias; and Asher; one step grandson: Zach; and three great-grandchildren.
Bette’s one self-proclaimed dream was “to marry William and have a family.” That dream was realized and it was clearly evident she lived her life devoted to it. Her dream blossomed into a much fuller life, characterized by her chosen profession.
Bette was a life-long Registered Nurse, making it her life’s purpose to serve those around her in need of physical, emotional, and spiritual healing – guided, no doubt, by her faith in Christ. Bette did this in various capacities, including her work at Stockley Center in Georgetown; her service along- side her husband during his years of full-time ministry (Dagsboro Gospel Fellowship Church, Dagsboro, DE; Lima, NY; South Butler, NY; Roaring Branch, PA); her volunteer work with Teen Missions; work in various nursing homes; and most recently her involvement with the Christian Motorcyclist’s Association. Her nurse’s heart was evident in everything she did. Her life brought healing and reconciliation to those whose lives she touched.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Crossroad Community Church, in Georgetown, DE. All are welcome, and encouraged to attend and celebrate Bette’s life. The family will receive friends between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM at the church. A time of Christian Fellowship will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to “Christian Motorcyclists Association” and mailed to 13635 Collins Pond Rd. E, Georgetown, DE 19947. Please note that the donation is for “Run for the Son, in memory of Bette Lou Timmons (59118).
