Obituary of Mrs. Nancy J. Hobbes
Nancy Jersin Hobbes, 85, of Millsboro passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family and in the care of Compassionate Care Hospice. She was born in Baltimore, MD on November 21, 1931 to the late Harold E. and Helen Kathryn Watson Jersin.
After graduating from Eastern High School, she went on to attend American University. She married her husband, William, in 1951. Together they raised three children. She also worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, retiring in 2000. William preceded her in 2010. Nancy moved to Ocean Pines, then to Millsboro.
She was a vivacious, fun-loving woman, who balanced love and devotion with being a feisty lady. She thrived on social events with her friends, especially the Millsboro and Lewes Bridge Groups – and her love of the local restaurants, and having a martini at the Blue Water Grill. She was an animal lover, and adored her feline friend “Friday.”
She is survived by her three children: John William Hobbes, and his wife Susan, of Las Vegas, NV; Wendy Carol Hobbes, of Baltimore, MD; and Charles T. Hobbes, of Derwood, MD. She has two grandchildren: Evan and Hayley Hobbes; and a brother: Wayne Jersin, and his wife Linda, of Dallas, TX.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Jennifer Hurd for her excellent care, friendship and going beyond the call of duty in her role as Nancy’s physician.
Services and interment are private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to: SPCA.
