Rickey Allen Grinolds, age 53 died April 7, 2010 in Tallasse, Alabama under Hospice care. He was formerly from Millsboro, Delaware.
He was a career soldier in the US Air Force, retiring at the rank of Technical Sergeant. Born in Millsboro in 1957, he was the son of Larry and Mary Ellen Simpson Grinolds, also of Millsboro. He was employed as a Civil Servant and computer programmer at Gunner Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. He belonged to a country classic band, "Country Velvet." He was a fan of Elvis Presley. His great pleasure was singing. He loved football and NASCAR racing. He was a devoted son, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family. During his career in the Air Force, he received several accommodation medals. He belonged to the VFW, American Legion and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife Linda Pauline Grinolds, two sons: William Grinolds and his wife Lulis, of West Palm Beach, FL and Patrick Grinolds, of Tallassee, Alabama; One daughter: Joy Grinolds, of Wetumpka, AL and two step-daughters: Tammy Marks, and her husband Carl, of Morgan City, LA and Belinda Legnon, and husband David of Bayo Lewes, LA. He is also survived by his special friend, John Watson and the Country Velvet Band, his three beloved canine friends Buster, Sweetie and Angel and numerous extended family and friends across the whole country.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wed. April 14, 2010 at the Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. King Street in Georgetown, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the service for visitation. Pastor Mike McGee will officiate. Interment will be on Thursday morning, April 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Delaware Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro with full military honors. Flowers are welcomed, or memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church 7 S. King St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
