Sarah H. Bethards, 86, of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware. Mrs. Bethards was born on August 16, 1923 in Millsboro, Delaware to the late Theodore and Mary Ann Hood Houston.
She worked for many years as a Domestic Worker and as a Child Care Provider as well as a homemaker raising her children. Mrs. Bethards was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Dagsboro, Delaware. She attended schools in Millsboro and Laurel before she was married.
She is survived by three sons, Charles H. Bethards, Jr. of Georgetown, DE, Elmer Bethards and wife Eleanor of Millsboro, and Theodore Bethards and wife Marguerite of West Palm Beach, Florida, one daughter, April Bethards of Millsboro, a sister, Sally Pratt of Brooklyn, NY, six grandchildren, Renee Turlington-Tollivera and husband John, Rico Turlington and wife Cynthia, Elmer Bethards Jr., Kendall Bethards and wife Nicole, Felicia White, and William Bethards, seven great grandchildren, Jeree, Dequan, Aeriel, Timothy, Marshell, Blade, and Christina, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Bethards, Sr in 1959, brother, John Floyd Houston, 4 sisters, Marie Blough, Helena Oney, Sophie Young, and Carrie Young, and a grandchild, Charmaine Hicks.
Services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware where friends may call at 11:30AM. Mr. Donald Sharp will speak at the service. Interment will follow at the Old Field Cemetery, near Millsboro.
