Watson Funeral Home - Obituary

Barham, Jane W.

Jane E. Williams Barham

Jane Elizabeth Williams Barham, 61, of Hockessin, DE died suddenly at her home on April 20, 2010.

Born and raised in Dagsboro, DE, Mrs. Barham was a long-time resident of Wilmington and Hockessin. She was a graduate and valedictorian of her class at John M. Clayton High School. She also was a graduate of Goldey-Beacom College and worked as a benefits administrator for the DuPont Company before retiring in 2001 after 35 years of service. She enjoyed bowling in the DuPont leagues and once posted a team season high score of 267. She was an accomplished bumper pool player where mutual friends introduced her to her future husband Ted at Pete's Pub in 1979. As an avid sports fan, Mrs. Barham enjoyed discussing strategy with her husband and rooting for her favorite teams, especially her beloved Flyers. She enjoyed traveling with her husband while she was able and never let her infirmities dampen her spirit. Even after a knee replacement, she took pride in being able to climb unassisted the 259 steps at London's St Paul's Cathedral up to the Whispering Gallery.

Preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Hilda Hudson Williams, brother Gerald L. Williams, all of Dagsboro, DE, and her devoted canine companion, Dave, Mrs. Barham is survived by her husband of 29 years, Ted A. Barham III; step-children Ted A. Barham IV and Kristie E. Barham both of Seattle, WA; sister Linda C. Tingle of Georgetown, DE; sister- and brother-in-law, Betty Gail and William Timm of Wilmington, DE; nieces Jennifer A. (Thomas) Ford of Springfield, VA, Joanna G. Sullivan (Daniel) of Townsend, DE; and niece Angela Jane Hendricks (Nick), with whom she enjoyed an especially close and loving relationship. Mrs. Barham was also especially proud of her great-nephews Jadon Rosado, Trent and Bryce Hendricks, plus great-nieces, Samantha, Rachel, Veronica, Alexandra and Evangeline Ford, Charlotte Sullivan and great-nephews Bregan and Wyatt Sullivan.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30 at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, DE, where visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Dagsboro Redmen's Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Mrs. Barham's name to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19
