Barbara C. Jackson January 26, 1954 - May 7, 2010 After a courageous 8 year battle with cancer, Barbara passed away surrounded by close family at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE on Friday, May 7, 2010, early in the morning. She was born and raised in Millsboro and graduated from Sussex Central High School. Barbara was born to William H. Davis and the late Doris E. Mosley Davis in 1954 at Milford Hospital. On August 25, 1984 she married Daryl J. Jackson at Indian Mission United Methodist Church. Together they lovingly raised Daryl Brett Jackson, 25 and Cory E. Jackson, 23. Barbara graduated in 1975 from Salisbury University with high honors in Secondary Education. In Barbara's career, she had the opportunity to work with Jobs for Delaware Graduates, Native American Consortium in Washington DC and Baltimore, Indian River High School and lastly Sussex Central High School where she taught English for 30 years. She was an active member of the Nanticoke Indian Association, even serving as a council member and editor for the Annual Powwow book. For many years she worked diligently with the youth coordinating bible study at Indian Mission UMC and supporting the Nanticoke Indian Dance troupe. Barbara loved being with her family, spending time with friends, working with her students, laughing and playing with her beloved dog Snoopy. Despite her long battle with breast and bone cancer, her strength and courage in the face of adversity still remains an inspiration to us all. With her unwavering love for Christ, Barbara touched the lives of numerous people with her smile, generosity, laugh and loving spirit. Barbara will forever be remembered and missed by her husband of 26 years, Daryl Jackson, children Brett and Cory Jackson, father William Davis, sister Audrey Brown of Nashville, Tenn, grandmother Ella Mae Mosley of Milford, DE, mother-in-law Mary Drain, of Milllsboro. Sister-in-law: Paulette Brunswick and husband Tony of Ashburn, VA her "Chemo Posse" Sabrina and Lauren, a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, a much anticipated grand-daughter and countless other family, friends, and students. Friends and family are invited to attend on Thursday, May 13, 2010. Calling hour will be from 6-7 PM, followed by a Memorial Service led by Pastor Jerry Denton and Rev. Cindy Quillen at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to the Nanticoke Indian Association Scholarship Fund, 27073 John J. Williams Hwy., Millsboro, DE 19966 attn: Mrs. Bonnie Hall.
