McMahon, Mary Tilney White

Mary Tilney White McMahon, 86, of Millsboro, Delaware died on May 18, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware. She was the daughter of the late J. Reese White Sr., and Sarah Hoyt Carpenter White of Millsboro, She was born in Lewes on March 5, 1924. She attended Millsboro Elementary School and graduated from St. Catherine's School in Richmond, VA. June 1942. She was a member of the Colonel David Hall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Sussex Gardeners as well as a former member of the Rehoboth Beach Country Club, and Sussex Pines Country Club. She worshipped at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Millsboro. She married Robert Joseph McMahon in September 1948 and moved with him over the next thirty-four years to Governor's Island, NY, Millsboro, DE, Syracuse, NY, Rochester, NY, Pittsburgh, PA, Boston, MA, and Los Angeles, CA until their retirement in 1977 when they moved to Scottsdale, AZ. They returned permanently to Delaware, the state she loved so much, in 1989. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her brother J. Reese White Jr. of Rehoboth Beach. She is survived by her two daughters, Sarah LaVerne McMahon Anderson and her husband, Steven, of Upper Saddle River, NJ and Mary Catharine McMahon Dockham and husband, Gary of Palm Coast, FL; three grandchildren, Keith John Anderson and Ethan Samuel Anderson of Upper Saddle River, NJ and Kevin Joseph Dockham and his wife, Maria, of Miami, FL; one great-granddaughter, Nicholle Katherine Dockham; her sister, Virginia T. Frazier of Millsboro; numerous nieces and nephews; her beloved caregiver, Laura White and her Husband, Tom; and a host of friends who loved her dearly. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday May 23, 2010, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Ellis and State Streets Millsboro Delaware. Interment will be held in Millsboro Cemetery on East State Street, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Pass Milford, Delaware 19963 or any charity of choice in memory of Mary Tilney White McMahon. Arrangements are being handled by, Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro, Delaware.
