Betts, Don W.

Don W. Betts, age 83, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Wilmington, DE died May 26, 2010 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE following a recent illness. He was born in Lewes, Delaware to the late Walter M. and Jennie Wilgus Betts on Sept 30, 1926.

Don graduated from the Fishburne Academy in Waynsboro, VA and the Pierce Business College in Philadelphia. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force having served in Germany at the close of World War II. Don worked for the DuPont Company for 25 years retiring in 1985 from the Elastomers Department International Shipping Division.

Don was an avid fan of the Delaware Blue Hens and was well known for organizing trips to many football games. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Millsboro.

Don was predeceased by his wife of nearly 50 years Nadine N. Betts in 2000. He is survived by his son James W. Betts and daughter Donna Lee Ziegler and her husband Earl, six grandchildren, Walter, Samantha, and Jamie Betts, Jennifer Ziegler, Lisa Ziegler Croft and husband Deron, and Mark Ziegler, and one great granddaughter Hailey Croft.

Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, June 2nd at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, State and Ellis Streets, Millsboro, Delaware with interment to follow at Millsboro Cemetery. Rev. David Archibald will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the St. Mark's Episcopal Church or the Labyrinth of St. Mark's Church, attn: Phil Rogers, Treasurer, PO BOX 422, Millsboro, DE 19966.
