Hebel, Harold Warfel

Harold Warfel Hebel, age 90 of Dagsboro, Delaware passed away on June 28, 2010 at home. Born March 10, 1920 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late John and Minnie Collins Hebel. Harold was a retired electrical inspector for Fire Underwriters of Philadelphia having served for 30 years. He served for 10 years in Harford County as a Supervisor of Electrical Inspections. Harold was an Amateur Radio Operator (W3HZT). He was a professional drummer and loved Jazz and Big Band music. He was a talented painter, maker of wooden toys and loved doing puzzles. He served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters during WW II with the Merchant Marine, which was activated for full military duty. He was an avid dog lover. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Bertha Thompson Hebel. He is also survived by four daughters: Linda Hebel, of New Freedom, Pa; Nancy Hebel, of Annapolis, MD; Karen Steedman, and her husband Richard, of Frankford, DE and Elisa Hebel, of Dagsboro, DE. Also survived by two grandchildren: Matthew and Heather Steedman. He has one brother surviving, Herbert C. Hebel and his wife Barbara, of Stewartstown, PA and two nephews: David and Harold Hebel. He was preceded in death by a brother, Victor and a sister, Virginia Hauenstein. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Ted Elser will officiate. Interment will be at 11:00 at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Family requests no flowers, and in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriot's Lane, Milford, DE 19963
