Joanne was a warm soul who had an infectious laugh. During our high school years she would talk about how she loved koala bears. She was a maverick in her own right! She definitely followed the path less travelled. Dear kind Joanne, you left us too soon, I wish I had more time with you. You have reminded us that the most precious gift is life. Joanne served as a faithful volunteer with The ARK Educational Resource Center for 9 years. She tutored students her first year, and later became a co-facilitator for the Emerald Princesses teen girls mentor group. The students loved Miss Joanne for her kind and gentle spirit, as well as her sense of humor. The ARK Board of Directors, Staff, and Volunteers send condolences to her family, and want you to know that she was very, very special to us. We will miss her deeply.
The first time I covered at the Millsboro clinic, I noticed this lady putting honey in her coffee in the breakroom. A conversation started about how great a sweetener honey is. She of course shared and ever after, I was called "honey Dave". Instant friend. Aways a smile and a funny comment or two.
