Eric Anthony RickardsJuly 2, 1965 ~ May 29, 2017 (age 51)
Eric A. Rickards, Sr., 51, known to some as “Rick” or “Lil Dog” received his angel wings on Monday, May 29, 2017, while at Select Specialty Hospital, Wilmington, DE after a long illness. His high school sweetheart, Tonoa Harmon was by his side.
Eric was a 1983 Cape Henlopen High School graduate. He enjoyed working with his hands, which allowed him to become an independent contractor in the community. He spent most of his adult life in the building industry until the economy slowed, which sent him seeking employment at DelMarVa Power as a meter reader, where he retired after he became ill.
Eric loved to make people laugh and often did imitations of many family members and others. Eric enjoyed long lunches with his friend, Shawn Greener, riding his Harley, playing music, and lifting up the name of the Lord through song. Some of Eric’s favorite past times were being home with family, quiet time, westerns and “MeTV”. Eric rededicated his life to Christ and was baptized on August 7, 2016.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester (Mickey) Rickards, Sr. and his mother, Joyce E. Rickards. He leaves behind to cherish his memories: fiancé, Tonoa Harmon and stepdaughter, Cheyenne Wright; two sons: Eric A. Rickards, Jr. (Terry Plank) of Georgetown, DE; Jacob Rickards (Jeanette) of Germany; two stepchildren; Alexis and JT Norwood; four brothers: Sylvester (Mark) Rickards, Jr. (Jona) of Millsboro, DE; Jeffrey Rickards (Christy) of Panama City, Fl., Stanford Rickards (Beverly) of Frederica, DE, Lloyd (Chris) Rickards of VA; two sisters: Joyce (Niecey) Rickards and Sharon Elzey (Bill) both of Millsboro, DE; four grandchildren: Anthony Blaize Rickards of Louisville, KY, Kaliayah Denise Rickards of Sacramento, CA, Gavin and Arianna(Sissy) Draper of Georgetown, DE; his Harley Davidson riding partners; Maurice Tunnell, Wayman (Butch) Harmon and Larry Hobbs, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
At Eric’s request, there will be a private service for the family at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, please donate a new stuffed animal to the Children’s Wing at Nanticoke/Nemours DuPont Pediatrics, 801 Middleford Rd., Seaford, DE 19973.
