Mrs. June W. Pettyjohn of Georgetown, DE passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the care of her family and Delaware Hospice. She was 89 years old.
Mrs. June was born in Georgetown, DE on November 6, 1928 to the late George W. and Nettie E. Isaacs White. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother Levin White in 1978, her husband Golda “Bugsy” Pettyjohn Jr. in 2000, and a son Jeff Pettyjohn in 2001.
June owned and operated the Blue Gold Inn which was originally the Georgetown Bakery, worked for Diamond State Telephone Co and was also a seamstress. She was an avid bridge player and a long-time member of the Sussex Pines Country Club. June and her husband Bugsy were married forty seven years and raised two children. She was a loving, smart, hardworking, strong willed and independent woman who will be missed by many.
She is survived by a son, Dean Pettyjohn of Georgetown, daughter-in-law, Diana Pettyjohn of Georgetown, four grandchildren, Benjamin Pettyjohn, Brooks Pettyjohn, Kathy Pettyjohn and Karen Irvin (Nate) as well as two great grandchildren Dane and Emmitt Irvin.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE where friends may call from 11 AM – 12 PM for a viewing and visitation. Burial will follow in St. John’s United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pastor Art Backus will officiate.
