Maridell Amelia (White) West

December 30, 1923 ~ September 25, 2018 (age 94)

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Maridell A. West of Millsboro, DE passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.  She was 94 years old.

 

Mrs. West was born in Pittsville, MD to the late Walter M. and Dorothy M. Steinenger White.  In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband Milton B. West, as well as two brothers, Murray White and Irvin White, two sisters, Ida Widdowson and Amanda Taeuber and a sister-in-law, Jane White.

 

She retired after 20 years from the State of Delaware where she worked as a Cottage Supervisor at the Stockley Center.  She also volunteered at the Christian Storehouse and delivered Meals on Wheels when her health allowed.  Maridell was one of the oldest members of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro, DE.  She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.  Her greatest pleasure was the love of her family.  She would make sure the family got together on special occasions.  Some of her interests included cooking for the family, gardening, camping. fishing, fellowship of her church family and helping others.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

 

Maridell is survived by three daughters, Brenda West; Linda Cullen (Toby); and Kathy Hudson (Sprig) all of Millsboro, DE; sister-in-law, Emily White and brothers-in-law, Paul Widdowson and Dick Taeuber.  She also leaves to cherish her memory, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

 

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church, 330 Church St., Millsboro, DE  19966, where friends may call from          2:00 PM – 3:00 PM for viewing and visitation.  Burial will follow in the Millsboro Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Compassionate Care Hospice, 20165 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE  19947.
