Obituary of Marvin Thomas Redmond
Marvin Thomas Redmond, 84, of Selbyville, and formerly of Wilmington passed away on November 23, 2017 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE after a fall and long battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia. He was the son of the late Cooper P and Anna Zacher Redmond, and step-son of the late Margaret Redmond. He was the owner/operator of the Deerhurst Barber Shop in Wilmington for 20 years. After moving to Frankford and then to Selbyville, he was owner of Colonial Hair Shop for nearly 30 years. He learned his barbering trade from his uncle in his early teens in Dover. He was a former member of the OC/Berlin, MD Optimist Club, and served over 25 years in the Talleyville Fire Company. He loved sports, and was a baseball and football card dealer and collector. His greatest enjoyment came from attending his grandchildren’s soccer and baseball games.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cooper P. Redmond, Jr., and a step-sister, Kathleen Webb. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Hall Redmond and a son, Michael T. Redmond and his wife, Janice. A granddaughter, Kaitlyn and grandson: Brayden. He leaves behind his two brothers: William and Dennis Redmond, a sister: Margaret B. Long as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 1st, 2017 at the Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro with a calling hour from 12:00 till 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service. Interment follows in the Selbyville Redmen’s Cemetery on Rt. 54.
