Norma Lee LeCates, 79, of Laurel passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 4, 2018. She was born on May 25, 1938 in Federalsburg, Maryland to the late James, Sr. and Annie Clevenger Mitchell. She attended High School in Federalsburg, MD and on April 9, 1955 she married George A. LeCates, Sr., who survives her and enjoyed 63 years of marital bliss. Together they raised five children, eleven grand-children, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Family was the center of her life, she was all about family, and loved raising “babies and grand babies, all her life!” She remained a homemaker, and enjoyed sports.
She is survived by her beloved husband, George, and her five children: Diana Toomey, of Georgetown; James LeCates, of Laurel; George, Jr., of Laurel; Ruth Boyer, and her husband Bob, of Laurel; and Beverly Nichols, and her husband James, of Delmar.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four sisters: Edith; Mildred; Helen; and Lillian. She was also preceded by three brothers: Tom; Horace; and James and one great-great grandchild, Austin.
A funeral service and Celebration of Her Life will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE. A time of viewing and visitation with the family will be one hour prior, from 11 AM till 12 PM; officiant David Brittingham. Interment follows in Carey’s Cemetery, Millsboro.
