Wanda A Taylor

July 21, 1956 ~ February 25, 2019 (age 62)

Wanda Arlene Taylor of Millsboro, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, February 25, 2019.

Wanda was born in Millsboro on July 21, 1956, daughter to the late David Lynwood and Sarah B Taylor.

Preceding her are siblings, Priscilla Taylor-Snell, Sylvia “Jennie” Santiago, Dwight Taylor and her great niece Aliyah Christine Simms.

Wanda graduated from Sussex Central High School in 1974 and was certified in child care. She worked at the Georgetown Child Care Center and for many years at Vlasic Foods in Millsboro, before retiring.

To our family, Wanda was known as the black Betty Crocker because she loved to cook and bake. She would be the first to offer food for any celebration, birthdays, holidays, cookouts or just because. Really she didn’t need a reason to cook, she just did. Her cupboards are full of spices, and cabinets full of pots and pans. She loved feeding the masses.

Wanda did not have any children of her own, but she took care of many nieces and nephews. She loved taking them with her to movie hop (one of her favorite pastimes), to Rehoboth Beach and Cupola Park. She loved to crochet, play board games, especially dominos and do ceramics. She became the “Taylor Historian” and worked diligently on our family tree.

Wanda is survived by her siblings: Shirley Conaway of Harrington, DE, Linda Perry (Lawrence) of Chesapeake, VA; Pamela Taylor, Catherine Taylor-Hall, Bertha Taylor of Millsboro, DE, Bruce Taylor (Heidi) of Georgetown, Robert Taylor (Anna) of Millsboro, Sebrena Taylor, Gail Reid (Linwood) of Millsboro, DE. Wanda is God mother to Angela Perry of Chesapeake, VA, Crystal Alexander Wilson of Dover, Delaware and Ashley Santiago of Millsboro, DE. Close to her, she kept up with her special boys: Philip, Terry and Kawan.

Wanda also leaves behind some very special friends: Jennie West, Nellie Alexander, Bonnie Ayres, Karen Tunnell and the staff at the Fresenius

Friends may call from 11AM-12PM on Monday, March 4 at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St. Millsboro, DE where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Service will be at 12 noon.

Burial will be in the Old Field Cemetery, Millsboro.
