Mr. George E. Collins of Gumboro, DE passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was 75 years old.
George was born on November 21, 1945 in Salisbury, MD to the late Edward W. and Nettie R. Collins of Gumboro, DE.
He was in the Delaware Army National Guard in Dagsboro, DE. He retired from Dresser/Wayne in Salisbury, MD in 2001 where he worked as an inspector. George also trained horses for harness racing that his wife Shirley and he owned for several years. He was a diehard Orioles fan as well.
He is survived by his four siblings: David Collins (Andrea) of Parsonsburg, MD, Joseph Collins (Marty) of Berlin, MD, Fay Tracy of Gumboro, DE and Barry Lynch of Roxanna, DE. He also leaves behind the love of his life of 49 years and 9 months Shirley F. Collins, a daughter Gail Snyder (Ted) of Georgetown, DE; granddaughters Heather J. Rose (Joseph) of Georgetown and Tara Magee (Eric) of Millsboro, DE and three great-grandchildren Joseph Rose Jr. of Georgetown, Hunter Snyder and Aubrey Lecates of Millsboro, DE. George also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, a very special friend Pastor Mark Phillips of Frankford, DE and his canine companion Gizmo.
The family would like to thank Vitas Healthcare of Millsboro, DE for all their help and support which are Stacie, Poly, Tia, Christine, Bernice, Amanda, Diana, Melinda, and Chelsea. A special thank you to Mark Phillips for always being there to help the family.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the Roxana Cemetery, Gum Road, Frankford, DE 19945. Pastor Mark Phillips and Pastor Leza Smack will officiate.
