Obituary of Mr. Richard Marshall Berry
U.S. Army Veteran
Mr. Richard Marshall Berry of Dagsboro, Bay Colony, DE, and formerly of Bowie, MD, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020. Richard was 88 years old and was born in Murray, Kentucky on June 21, 1932 as an only child.
Richard worked many years as an Economist at the National Science Foundation (NSF) until he retired and relocated to Delaware. He volunteered his spare time to work as the Treasurer for Saint Peters Lutheran Church in Ocean City Maryland. In his youth Richard served honorably as a Private First Class Russian Language Translator in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed a lifetime of playing tennis, golfing, boating, reading, writing, and spending time with his family. To all he was a genuinely friendly and nice person to be around.
Richard is survived by his wife Beverly Jayne Berry, of Gaithersburg, MD and his two Daughters:
Margaret Ruth Jayant (Peggy), Columbia, MD, and Cynthia Lee Smith (Cindy), Melbourne, FL. He is survived by his beloved Grandchildren: Marshall Alan Kromer, of Ridgely, MD, Nicholas Styles Kromer, of Queenstown, MD, Jennifer Lee Joiner, of Lewiston, ME, and Brian Matthew Smith, of Melbourne, FL. Richard is also survived by his only Great Grandchild: Quin James Kromer, Son of Nicholas Alan Kromer and Madison Elizabeth Mandes.
Committal Services and the Conferring of Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, September, 18, 2020, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriot’s Way; Millsboro, Delaware 19966 Masks and Social Distancing requirements will be enforced in compliance with the Governor’s and Public Health Department’s Covid-19 restrictions.
