Albert B. Quillen's Obituary
Albert B. Quillen passed away peacefully at his home residence in Millsboro, DE, on August 15, 2024, his 92nd birthday. Mr. Quillen was born in Dagsboro, DE, in 1932 to Lydia Ellen and Harry Bernard Quillen.
Upon graduating from Millsboro High School in 1950, Mr. Quillen honorably served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. His commitment to service continued throughout his lifelong career with the US Postal Service in Dover, DE. After many years of dedicated work, he retired in 1987. He was an active member of the Church of Christ, where he served as an elder, providing guidance and support to his congregation.
Mr. Quillen’s loyalty as a Philadelphia sports fan was unwavering, cheering on the Eagles and Phillies through every season. Known as a jokester with an outgoing personality, he brought laughter and light-heartedness to every occasion. Above all, Mr. Quillen loved his family deeply, a devotion felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents Mr. Quillen is predeceased by his brother Stewart Quillen, sister Irene Holston, and brother-in-law Granville (Bozie) Holston. Mr. Quillen is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy L. (Collins) Quillen; two daughters: Penny Bixby (Kevin) of Dover, DE, and Susan E. Smith (David) of New Cumberland, PA; five grandchildren: Ashley Delgadillo (Joey) of Martinez, CA, Dustin Bixby of Santa Ana, CA, Shane Smith of State College, PA, Justin Smith (Melissa) of Bellefonte, PA, Adam Smith (Cat) of Millersville, PA; and two great-grandchildren: Levi Carter Smith and Thea Jane Smith of Bellefonte, PA. Mr. Quillen’s love, humor, and community service will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew him.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Millsboro Cemetery, East State Street Millsboro, DE 19966.
