ALVIN LEE TRUITT's Obituary
Mr. Alvin Lee Truitt of Millsboro, DE passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. He was 80 years old. Mr. Truitt was born on June 17, 1934 in Dagsboro, DE to the late Ernest and Agnes Toomey Truitt. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Timmons Truitt in 2000. He worked as a maintenance technician at Townsends for many years, retiring in the mid-90s to care for his wife. Alvin was very talented. He was an artist who produced many beautiful paintings and drawings. He also made clocks, including a grandfather clock and several Delaware clocks, doing all of the woodwork himself. In his machine shop he built his own woodstove and several utility trailers. Alvin was a ""jack of all trades."" He was an avid reader with a great interest in and knowledge of WWII and the Amish. He was also quite a jokester and a very funny man who could spend hours telling old stories and laughing with his friends and family. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by a son, Jeffrey L. Truitt and his wife Karen of Millsboro, DE, a daughter, Sherry L. Mitchell and her husband Jeff also of Millsboro, DE, a sister, Hilda M. Beebe of Milford, DE, two brothers, Vernon R. Truitt of Gilroy, CA and Gerald L. Truitt of Millsboro, DE. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kyle Truitt and his wife Christina, Mallori Margerison and her husband Andrew and Ashleigh Adkins and her husband Jeffrey as well as three great grandchildren, Natalie, Ashton, and Miranda. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful caregivers who helped provide round-the-clock care to Alvin. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call after 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Carey's Cemetery in Millsboro, DE. Pastor William E. Timmons will officiate.
