ANN KANSAK's Obituary
Anna Mary "Ann" Kansak (Glackin) passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, on September 3, 2015 in Glen Arm, MD at the age of 84.
Ann was born on June 6, 1931 in Coatsville, PA the eldest child of George Bartol Glackin and Naomi Glackin (Mattson). She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1949. Later, she went on to earn her degree in elementary education from Salisbury State College. She married the late Alexander (Butch) Kansak II of New Castle, DE in 1951. Ann and Al went on to have four children, Alexander (Butch) Kansak III, of Georgetown, DE, Stephen Kansak, of Glen Arm, MD, Georgann Knopf of Georgetown, DE, and Susan Montgomery of Austin, TX.
After residing in the New Castle, DE area the family moved to Ocean View, DE. Both Ann and Al taught for many years in the Indian River School District. Ann taught at Lord Baltimore Elementary School until her retirement in 1994. Even after retirement Ann remained part of the school district as a substitute and mentor. She is remembered fondly by students from throughout her career.
Ann was an avid reader and enjoyed nothing more than sitting on the beach with a good book. She loved traveling with her daughter and grand-daughters, going on many road trips.
Ann is preceded in death by both her father and mother, along with her husband Al. She leaves behind four children and their spouses, Butch and Terry Kansak, Steve and Mimi Kansak, Georgann and Brian Knopf, and Sue and Bill Montgomery, three siblings, George (Buddy) Glackin Jr., Rebecca (Becky) Sharp and John Glackin. Also her grandchildren, Christopher Kansak, Matthew Kansak, Alexander Kansak IV, Julia Knopf, Janine Knopf, Catherine Anna Kansak, Austin Montgomery and Ethan Montgomery. Along with two great-granchildren, Sophia Kansak and Jeremy Kansak.
Ann is remembered fondly as a sister, mother, grandmother, friend and teacher to many.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may visit after 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at Carey's Cemetery in Millsboro. All who knew Ann are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
