Arlene Patricia Murray's Obituary
Beloved mother and grandmother, Arlene Patricia Murray, passed away on June 1, 2024. She was 73. Arlene was the heart of her home and our family.
Arlene Patricia Palmer-Murray was born March 29, 1951 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She was the third child of six children born to Harry James Palmer and Ruth Virginia Jones-Palmer.
In 1953 she moved to France due-to her father being stationed in the armed forces. Arlene lived in Paris for three years until the family returned back to the United States.
She continued her education in the Philadelphia school district where she graduated from South Philly high. Along her journey through life, Arlene met Larry Ellison, and through this union Princess- (Franc’noise) was born. Life had more surprises as Arlene separated from Larry, and met the man who she would spend the next 53 years of her life with. She married her one and only love Terryl Murray. Through the union of God, they conceived four children Shantel, Kimyatta, Emmanuel, and Sukena Murray.
She then furthered her education through the United States Marine Corps nursing program to pursue a career at Thomas Jefferson hospital.
In 1996 she and her husband moved to Delaware, where she lived for 25 years and continued her career at Nanticoke hospital working in the administrative department.
As a child, Arlene grew up attending Church of Christ Written In Heaven. She realized she had a calling on her life at a very young age. In 1975 she preached her first sermon at Faith Deliverance Evangelistic Church. As she moved through life, Arlene attended Church Of Living God for many years; until she had a calling to move to Delaware. Arlene attended Discover Church in Georgetown, DE where she worshiped and made this her church home.
Arlene wore many hats! In her spare time she loved to decorate, cook, bake, sew on the machine, crochet, and knitting. She made Footies, blankets, baby sweater sets, hats and scarf sets. You name it she did it all! Arlene was a giver and always had a desire to bless someone else out of love. Oh let’s not forget about her “bag ministry”. A bag with a little something from the heart about the goodness of God.
Arlene leaves to cherish her memories: husband Terryl Murray, five children: Franc’oise, Shantel, Kimyatta (Joe), Emmanuel, Sukena, Mother-In-Law Jessie Murray, two sisters Constance and Crystal One Brother-In-Law Clifford Baytop and a sister- in- law Debbie, and the Matriarch and beloved Aunt Rose Collick, Ten Grandchildren: Gabriel, Tatiana (Garnell), Emmanuel ,Shay, Faith(Micaiah) Khyla, Jarius, Nazir, Taliah, and Jeremiah, best friends Jenny Delice, Chrisine Mayes, Betty Barnes and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
