Obituary of Mrs. Betty Revel Hughes:
Betty Revel Hughes, 81, of Delmar, DE passed away in the care of Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD on July 25, 2016, She was born in Dover, DE on January 1, 1935 to the late Elmer and Hilda Dodd Revel, and she was proud of the fact that she was the first baby born in Delaware in 1935. She was a life-long resident of Sussex County and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Delmar, Maryland. She volunteered for several years in the nurse's office at Sussex Central Middle School. "Mom-mom Betty" was defined by her cooking and made sure everyone ate. Hospitality was her way. She was a very determined woman who never gave up. She also loved animals.
She is survived by three children: Sharon White, and her husband Lewis, of Easley, SC; Tracy Revel, and husband Gary, of Delmar, Delaware; and Aubrey Cordrey, whose wife Pamela preceded, of Magnolia, DE. She was also preceded by her brother, James Revel, and survived by her sister-in-law, Doris. She is also survived by a sister Helen Pepper, and her husband Edwin, of Georgetown, DE. Betty is also survived by nine grandchildren: Christi Anthony, and husband Bryan; Dana Rongione, and husband Jason; Lewis Linn White, Jr., and wife Brandi; Melanie Gutierrez, and husband Rey; Rebekah Stevens, and husband Jarod; Samuel Cordrey, Sarah Cordrey, Rachel Cordrey and Peter Cordrey. There are three great-grandchildren: Victoria Abigail Anthony; Hampton James Anthony; and Erin Marie White.
A time of viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Faith Baptist Church in Delmar, MD from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Pastor Kenneth Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow at the Millsboro Cemetery, in Millsboro, DE.
