Betty Marie Layfield's Obituary
Betty Layfield went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on January 7, 2026, at the age of 87 yrs old. She was born August 5, 1938, a beloved daughter of the late Roy and Lillie Webb.
Betty was known to have a servant’s heart helping at a moment’s notice.
She was an active member of the Dagsboro Church of God where she served and cooked for the Seniors at church, volunteered in the nursery up until her early 80’s, and was part of a ministry through church called the “Golden Gals”.
Betty started working at the S & J Restaurant in her teens and this is where she met the love of her life, Stanley, whom she later married. Soon after they became owners of the S & J Restaurant where they worked side by side, becoming a central part of their community. Betty’s main focus was her grandchildren. There was not a day she did not have at least one by her side.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Layfield and two brothers Ralph Webb and Bobby Webb.
She is survived by two sisters, Janet Marvel and Sarah Lee Mitchell; one son, Kim Daisey (PattiJo); two daughters, Arline Simmons (John), Laura Elliott (Paul); two stepsons, Wallace Layfield (Wanda) and Wayne Layfield.
