Brooks Eugene Garrison's Obituary
Brooks Eugene Garrison, 85, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. He was born on April 6, 1940, in Pungoteague, Accomack County Virginia, to the late Norman Garrison and Ruth Ann Garrison. Born and raised in Virginia, Brooks carried with him a strong work ethic and quiet strength throughout his life.
Brooks dedicated 36 years of service to Conrail Railroad before retiring. His long career reflected his commitment, reliability, and pride in hard work. Outside of his career, Brooks had a deep passion for horse racing. He not only followed the sport closely but also owned horses and spent many enjoyable days at Harrington and Ocean Downs racetracks, where he shared his love of racing with friends and fellow enthusiasts.
A man of few words, Brooks expressed his love most through his actions. He deeply cherished his family and valued the time he spent with them. His quiet presence, steady guidance, and enduring support will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Brooks was married to his beloved wife, Grace Ellen Elizabeth (Blake) Garrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Yvonne Garrison; his brothers, Norman Garrison and Francis Garrison; and three nieces and two nephews.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Felita Purnell, Eugenia Garrison, Clementine Garrison, and Tobias Short; and his cherished grandchildren: Deronte Purnell, Tiffany Purnell, Tynessa Garrison, Dale Elliott, Stephen Garrison, Sheena Purnell, Ashley Purnell, and Jhryll Garrison; many great grandchildren; along with extended family members and loved ones who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
