Carol Ann Givans' Obituary
Mrs. Carol Ann Givans of Millsboro, DE passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 surrounded by her family at the Delaware Hospice Center. She was 64 years old.
Mrs. Givans was born in Salisbury, MD on August 23, 1954 to Johnny Lathbury and the late Joyce Clark Lathbury. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by two brothers, David Lathbury and John Lathbury.
Carol retired from the State of Delaware where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Stockley Center for about 22 years. She was a graduate of Indian River High School Class of 1972. In 1973 she married the love of her life, Gary Givans whom she would spend the next 45 years together. They raised two children. In her earlier years she ran a home daycare while her children were young and helped her husband on their layer farm. She enjoyed time spent with her family, watching and riding the Cape May Ferry, fishing, reading, welcoming the neighborhood kids in her home, trips to the park and library with her children as well as the neighborhood kids. Carol will be remembered for being caring and compassionate, always putting others need before her own and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her father she is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Givans, Sr. of Millsboro, DE, a son, Gary Givans Jr., (Brandy) of Laurel, DE and a daughter, Melissa Givans and her companion Korri Smyre of Millsboro, DE; a sister, Belinda Pusey (James) of Laurel, DE and two brothers, James Lathbury and Michael Lathbury, both of Dagsboro, DE. She also leaves behind to cherish her memories, five grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, Peyton, and Jada Givans and Mia Gibbs.
