Obituary of Charles R. Cordrey, Sr.
Charles R. Cordrey, Sr. passed away in the care of his family at his daughter's home in Georgetown, DE on December 14, 2018. He was 89 years old. He was born on March 16, 1929 to the late Franklin W. and Margaret B. Rogers Cordrey in Millsboro, DE. He worked in Agriculture for Townsend's Farms, retiring after many years in the same job all his life. He married his late beloved wife of 65 years, Frances Annette, and together they raised six children. He was a loving, caring person who worked hard and took care of everybody. He raised rabbit dogs, loved farming, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, and wife who preceded him, he was also preceded by two children: Patricia Ann Cordrey, and Barbie Ellen Franklin. He was also preceded by a son-in-law: Bill Banks, and his sister: Betty Ware; and brothers and their wives: William Cordrey (Mary); Aubrey Cordrey; and Gerald Cordrey (Carol).
He is survived by four children: Charles R. Cordrey, Jr. and his wife Ellie, of Millsboro; Cheryl Ann Thielemann, and husband Robert, of Georgetown; Peggy L. Banks, of Millsboro; and Deanna F. West, of Georgetown. He has one brother: Donald Cordrey, of Florida. Charles also has 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild along with a large extended family, and many, many friends. Of note is one of Charlie's best friends: William "Buster" Andrie, Jr.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Millsboro Cemetery, State Street, Millsboro, DE with Pastor Bob Hudson officiating. Flowers are welcome, or, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Season's Hospice.
