Obituary of Mr. Charles Edwin Kenney
Charles Edwin Kenney, 68, of Smyrna passed away at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital on Thursday, October 6, 2016. He was born in Salisbury, Maryland on August 23 1948 to the late Charles and Edith Kenney.
Charles was a very bright man. He graduated from Laurel High School in 1966 and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (Electrical Engineering) from University of Delaware. Charles would go on to pursue a career in education, teaching electronics at Delaware Technical and Community Colleges before retiring from employment with the State of Delaware. He enjoyed reading, listening to rock and roll music, gardening and cooking.
He loved family gatherings and tried to help those in need whenever he could. However, what Charles treasured most was being a good father. He adored his daughter and placed her needs before his own.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Kenney was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Bailey.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Jessica Spicer, Seaford, Delaware; two sisters, Deborah Steele, Millsboro, Delaware; Shirley Burtelle (husband James), Laurel, Delaware; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephew, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held in his memory on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 1:00 PM, Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, Delaware are appreciated.
