Charles N. Schwarz's Obituary
Charles N. Schwarz, age 80, passed away on December 26, 2024, at Tidal Health PRMC in Salisbury, MD, one day after celebrating his 80th birthday on December 25, 1944. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Charles proudly served his country, enlisting in the military at the age of 18. He served one tour with the 1st Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War, where he was wounded in action and exposed to Agent Orange.
After his military service, Charles held various jobs, eventually working for multiple fire extinguisher companies, including Ace. His work took him across the country with government contracts and chain restaurants that required fire extinguisher services. In 1993, Charles moved to Delaware and began his own business, Bethany Lawn and Landscape, which he owned and operated until his passing.
A passionate car enthusiast, Charles was a proud member of the Cars and Coffee Antique Car Club and showcased his beloved red 1956 Ford. He was also an active member of the American Legion in Laurel, MD.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in 2020, and his brother, David Schwarz, in 1993. He is survived by his son, Charles N. Schwarz Jr. (Mari); his stepchildren, Chrisie Mulcahey (Sean) and Lawrence Baker (Megan); his grandchildren, Demetre, Bobby, Lawrence Jr., and Brandon; his great-grandchildren, Bryson, Maxine, and Stella Rose; and his brother, Donald Schwarz (Laura).
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 South Washington Street, Millsboro, DE 19966. A chapel committal with military honors will follow at 2:00 PM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
