Charles B. Scott Sr.'s Obituary
Charles B. Scott, Sr., age 85, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Atlantic Shores Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro. He was born in Georgetown, Delaware on January 7, 1938, to the late Glenn and Ethel Scott. Charles, known to many as “Charlie,” worked in many different occupations. His longest employment was delivering propane for Collins & Ryan, later named Pargas, and ultimately Suburban Propane, for a total of 34 ½ years. He never saw a stranger, enjoyed salt and freshwater fishing, camping at Cherrystone Campground in Virginia, and talking with people. He would always end a conversation with everyone by saying, “Now remember, you are important!” He really looked forward to having Sabbath Bible Study on WRBG 106.5 in Millsboro, with Joe, the owner-operator of the station.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Glenn (Bud) Scott; John (Jack) Scott; Donald Lee Scott; James Edward Scott; and Steve Scott and two sisters: Barbara S. Johnson; and Doris Lloyd; brothers-in-law: Carlton Workman and James Lloyd, as well as sister-in-law Geraldine Scott, and daughter-in-law Mary E. Scott.
Charles is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Ellen Scott, and his son Charles B. Scott, Jr. He is also survived by his brother: Richard E. Johnson, Sr.; sister Ellen Workman; two sisters-in-law: Jean Scott and Judy Scott, as well as several nieces and nephews that he loved very much. Charles leaves behind many special friends, including Austin Okie, Robert Truitt, Sr., Joe Dalessandro, and classmates Sam Wilson and Phyllis Smith as well as many other lifelong friends and neighbors.
A time of viewing and visitation will be held at the Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro on Friday March 3, 2023, from Noon until 1:00 PM, with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Harold Backus will officiate. Interment to follow in Millsboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Zoar United Methodist Church, in care of Carisa Pepper, 24463 Gravel Hill Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
