Christina Mae Green's Obituary
Christina Mae Norwood-Green, 70, of Milford, Delaware passed away on May 12, 2015 with her children by her side. Christina was born January 22, 1945 in Millsboro Delaware to the loving parents of Samuel and Thelma Norwood. She received her elementary education from Millsboro Seventh Day Adventist School and her high school education from William C. Jason Comprehensive High School. She attended Delaware State College where she received a BA in Home Economics. Christina served as a consumer education teacher for the Indian River School District. She was also employed by various local poultry plants for 22 years and by MBNA as loan officer where she retired after 13 years of service. Christina was a faithful member of First Millsboro Seventh-day Adventist Church. She served as Sabbath School Superintendent and secretary, Teacher, Hospitality Committee member, Usher, Food Bank, choir member, and deaconess. She was an active member of the Alleghany East Conference Pathfinders for over 35 years. She served as the Director of First Millsboro SDA Hi-Thrones for 10 years. Even after retirement she continued to support the pathfinders by attending as many functions as a she could. Christina is survived by her two daughters Melanie Washington (Kevin) of Baltimore, MD and Christi Green-Hendrix (Chancey) of Seaford, DE.; five grandchildren Kiara Green of Baltimore, MD, Jahnila and Nykiara Jones of Seaford, DE., and Za'layia and Leasia James of Ellendale, DE.; seven sisters Elizabeth Moore (Wabash) of Frankford, DE., Grace Winston (Lonnie, deceased) of Jacksonville, NC, Ellen Norwood of Dover, DE, Lydia Brooks (Michael) of Salisbury, MD, Marilyn Hatton (Gene) of Dover DE, Naomi Winston (Lynn, deceased) of Cedar Hill, TX, and Debbie Lewis (David) of FL; sister n law Beverly Jackson of Millsboro DE; one brother Ernest Norwood (Sandy) of Pine Forge, PA; five devoted friends Stephanie Haygood of Frankford, DE, Doris Fillayou of Georgetown, DE, Jean Harris of Georgetown, DE, Sandra Watts of Milford, DE, Inez Barnes of Milford, DE, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Christina was preceded in death by her parents Samuel Barnes and Thelma Ellen Norwood; four brothers Benjamin Norwood (Bonnie), Robert Norwood (Doris), Charles Norwood, Daniel Norwood (Madeline); and one sister Fedora Jones (James). There will be a public viewing on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 6:8 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, DE. The service to celebrate Christina's life will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at First Millsboro Seventh-Day Adventist Church. 30007 Cordrey Rd, Millsboro DE at 1p.m. Christina was devoted to meeting the needs of others.
