Darlene J. Morris' Obituary
Darlene J. Morris, daughter of the late John Robert Jacobs and Hattie Purnell Jacobs, was born on August 15,1951 in Whaleysville, Maryland. She attended the public schools of Worcester County and graduated from Worcester High School in 1970. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined St. Paul United Methodist Church in Berlin, Maryland. Darlene became a dedicated member of Trinity Holiness Church in 1989 and served on the Usher and Missionary Boards.
Darlene retired on December 31, 2017, from Coldwell Banker as a custodian. She enjoyed playing uno, completing word puzzles, taking pictures with family and friends. She also enjoyed doing exercises and walking. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was beautiful, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life surrounded by family on Sunday, February 27,2022 at Genesis Lofland Park in Seaford, Delaware.
She was united in holy matrimony to George A. Morris, Jr. on May 12,1988. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Lynnell D. Drummond of Dagsboro, DE, Catina D. McCray of Milford, DE, Lamar D. Morris (Ebony) of Millsboro, DE, and Jaleesa D. Morris of Atlanta, GA; two spiritual daughters Sharika L. Johnson and Vernay Ricketts. She leaves to mourn eight grandchildren Keion Sturgis, Miya Laws, KiAnte Sturgis, Arianna Morris, JaNya Curtis, Aliyah Morris, O'Brian Morris, and Jeremiah Curtis and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her six siblings Mary Jarmon of Berlin, MD, Robert (Sarah) Jacobs of Berlin MD, Anna Jacobs Showell of Berlin MD, Larry (Diane) Jacobs of Virginia Beach, VA, Terry (Anatola) Jacobs of Millsboro, DE, and Rayvon Jacobs of Berlin, MD. A special niece/sister Lucille (Nelson) Collins of Berlin, MD. Two cousins who were raised as siblings, Mildred Johnson (Linford) of Berlin, MD and John Albert Purnell of Worcester, Massachusetts. Two aunts, Edna Bowen of Trenton, NJ and Hazel Jacobs of Selbyville, DE. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at St. John Second Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Rd, Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM for viewing and visitation. Interment will follow at Zoar Golden Acres in Bishopville, MD.
