Darron "DJ" Decarlos Wescott Jr.'s Obituary
Darron Decarlos Wescott Jr., affectionately known as DJ, was born on January 24, 2016, in Salisbury, MD, to parents Kenyce L. Wescott and Darron Decarlos Wescott Sr. He was a loving and courageous soul whose life, though brief, was marked by an extraordinary spirit that touched everyone he met. DJ passed away on September 22, 2023, at the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, after a lifelong battle with a rare respiratory disease.
DJ's life was a testament to resilience and strength. Despite his health challenges, he lived his life to the fullest, embracing every moment with a smile. His courage was an inspiration to all who knew him. Even in his passing, DJ continued to give, donating his organs and providing several children with the chance to live a healthy life. His selfless act leaves a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift others.
DJ is survived by his mother, Kenyce L. Wescott; his father, Darron Decarlos Wescott Sr.; his brother, Devin Wescott; his grandparents, Glenn McBride of Baltimore, MD, Sherie Taylor of Delmar, DE, Valerie Wescott of Frankford, DE, Gary Phillips of Frankford, DE; his great grandmother, Brenda Downing of Delmar, DE; his great grandfather Redell Matthews of Camden, DE; his Godparents Talbert and Sherita Haynes of Selbyville, DE; his aunts and uncles, Garron Wescott (Jasman), Lamaris Wescott, Jerome Wescott, Tanayika Wescott, Lashanna Wescott, Denima Dixon (Garnet); Alphonso Henry ; his God Sister Maya Haynes and God Brother Jaylin Haynes; as well as numerous cousins and dear friends. Each of these family members and friends held a special place in DJ's heart, and his love for them was evident in his every interaction.
DJ grew up in Milford, DE, and was a proud student at Kent Community School in Dover, DE, where he was currently in kindergarten. He loved going to school and cherished the friendships he made there. His teachers and classmates will remember him for his infectious smile and his eagerness to learn.
Beyond his academic pursuits, DJ had a wide range of interests that brought joy to his life. He loved watching TV, especially his favorite shows Paw Patrol and Bubble Guppies. DJ had a great sense of style. He loved getting dressed up, adorning himself with jewelry, and getting a fresh haircut. But above all, DJ loved his family. He adored his little brother and cherished the time they spent together. His love for his family was a constant source of strength and motivation for him.
