David Lee Lowther Sr.'s Obituary
David Lee Lowther, Sr., of Milton, Delaware, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at Bayhealth Sussex Campus in Milford, Delaware. He was born on March 3, 1950, in Roper, North Carolina, and was the son of the late Charlie Van Lowther, Sr. and Clayvine Norman Lowther.
David dedicated many years of service as a supervisor with Mountaire. Known as a true jack of all trades, he possessed remarkable skills as a carpenter and took great pride in working on homes and repairing automobiles. Whether building, fixing, or lending a helping hand, David was always happiest when working with his hands. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and treasured the time spent with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his siblings, Learonia Risper, Charlie Lowther, Jr., Charles Carter, and Robert Carter.
He leaves behind his devoted and loving wife, Joanne B. Lowther; his children, Charlene McCray, David Lowther, Jr., Cynthia Hughes, and Tyrone Lowther; his cherished grandchildren, Vincent Turner, Charlie Mokoa, Jordan McCray, Jamar Lowther, Rasuan Dale, Jeffon Dale, Natalie Tunnell, Tyrone Lowther, Jr., Tyrek Lowther, Tyla Lowther, and Tru Razz; as well as many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 500 West 4th Street, Lewes, DE 19958. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
