David Lee Miller's Obituary
David Lee Miller, 94, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025. He was born on September 11, 1930, in Dalton, Ohio.
David proudly served in the United States Army, dedicating his career to the service of his country. He served in The First Company Governor’s Horse Guards for the State of Connecticut and became the Major Commandant, a position that reflected his strong commitment and leadership. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel. He continued to serve his country through his work for the State of Connecticut in the Military Department, from which he retired with honor.
Outside of his professional life, David had a deep love for bowling and traveling. He was an active member of the Millsboro, Delaware American Legion and VFW Post 28, where he contributed to his community and shared his passion for supporting veterans and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Miller; as well as his eldest daughter Debra Johnson and her husband Robert and Special Friend JoAnne Sedie.
David is survived by his two loving children: Chris Miller, and Kathy Vennell. Grandchildren Steve Vennell his wife Cheryl, Denise Johnson, Heather Johnson, Nicholas Miller. Great grandchildren Gabriel, Lucas, Elena and Aaron. He will be remembered fondly by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 12:00 Noon, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment with Military Honors will be held immediately following services at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion or VFW Post 28 in Millsboro, Delaware, in his honor.
