Dean Edward Jones' Obituary
Dean Jones, 58 of Georgetown, DE, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, after over four and a half years of fighting a rare illness, Severe Aplastic Anemia. He was born on October 13, 1966, to Edward Lee Jones and Millie (Hudson) Jones. He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother Richard Jones.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Lesia, his son Travis, daughter-in-law Victoria, and 4-legged best friend Trump. He is survived by his sister Gail Morris (Michael), and his late brother’s wife Donna Jones. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Dean studied Diesel Mechanics at Sussex Vo-Tech and graduated from Sussex Central High School in the Class of 1984. Most of his career was spent being a Diesel Mechanic and Shop Foreman at Parker Block Co. He left at the end of 2022 due to his illness.
Dean loved hunting, fishing, attending car races, horse races, bowling, as well as numerous other hobbies. He was partial to the Pittsburg Steelers, Baltimore Orioles, Carolina Hurricanes, and Delmarva Shorebirds. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved having a good time.
Dean enjoyed being a husband and father. His proudest moment was the day his son was born. They held a close connection to the very end and beyond.
Dean was very grateful to Dr. Amy DeZern (JHU) and Dr. Mahammad Saad (Tidal Health) and the staff who cared for him during this time. He had a special connection with the nurses at Tidal Health in the Infusion Lab. They treated him with love and compassion.
He will be deeply missed by his friends and family. A funeral service will be held at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM with a viewing from 10:00 – 11:00 AM prior to the start of the service. Interment will follow at Millsboro Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
