Diane Joan DiTolvo's Obituary
CHANGE OF SERVICES DUE TO SNOW Diane Joan DiTolvo, 66, of Millsboro, joined her loved ones in heaven, January 1, 2017, after fighting acute myeloid leukemia for the past year. Diane was born January 30, 1950, in Perth Amboy, N.J., to Frank and Helen (Ciejak) Skibinski. She graduated from Sayreville War Memorial High School in 1968 and went to work in the International Quality Control and Purchasing Department at E.R. Squibb & Sons, Inc. In 1970, she married the love of her life, Frank DiTolvo. They settled in Manville, NJ, where Diane stayed at home to raise her daughters. She made dear friends during this time. They moved to Millsboro in 1985 and Diane returned to work part time as a chiropractic assistant a few years later. She began working full time at the Indian River Senior Center in 1990, where she was the director for 18 years. Diane retired to care for her husband, and after he passed away, she became a mentor at Long Neck Elementary, an accomplished painter, a frequent traveller, and the best babysitting grandmother any kids could ask for. Her other hobbies included tending to her flowers, making homemade crafts for gifts, enjoying many types of music, and taking pictures of hummingbirds and sunsets. Diane was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Patricia; an infant son, Kevin; and her husband, Frank. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Kucharik and her husband, Thomas, of Lewes, and Christine DiTolvo of Brooklyn, NY; a sister, Judy Twardos and her husband, Walter, of Parlin, NJ; a brother, Frank Skibinski and his wife, Jan, of Golden, CO; three grandchildren, William, Anna, and Elena Kucharik of Lewes; beloved relatives-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Interment will be private. Diane's family would like to thank all the caring nurses and doctors at Christiana Care, Tunnell Cancer Center, Beebe Healthcare, and Delaware Hospice.
