Obituary of Dolores H. Toomey
Dolores H. Toomey, of Frankford, DE passed away in the care of Harrison House Senior Living in Georgetown, DE on February 23, 2020. She was 78 years old. Dolores was born on October 3, 1941 in Port Jefferson, NY to the late Clayton L. and Mary C. Mitchell Hocker. She grew up in Bethany Beach, DE and graduated from Lord Baltimore High School in 1959. As a graduate of The Marinello Beauty Academy in Philadelphia, PA. , she owned and operated her own business, ReVon Beauty Salon. During the 1950's she sang with the Hocker Family on WBOC-TV. She was a member of St. Georges United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women's Organization. Dolores was also a member of the choir, a past Sunday School Teacher for the Youth Group, and loved doing "Rock-a-Thon" fundraisers for the youth. Her hobbies included cooking, cutting grass, and serving others. She loved being "Mom-Mom Dodie" and "Aunt Dodie" and cherished spending time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Dodie was caring, patient, and selfless. As a fan of the NBA, she closely followed the Golden State Warriors and favored Steph Curry.
Dolores is survived by two daughters: Renée Valeski, of Millsboro, DE; and Vonda Snyder, and husband Dobie, of Gumboro, DE. Also surviving are her three grandchildren: Paige Valeski, and fiancé Peter Ott, of Hockessin, DE; Andrew Valeski, and girlfriend Marisa Lowe, of Ellendale, DE; and Carley Snyder, of Gumboro, DE. She adored her grand dogs Junie and Sully. Dolores has three surviving siblings: Clayton Lynn Hocker (Allison) of West Ocean City, MD; Faye Kostelnik (Mike) of Dalton, PA; and Aleisa Timmons (Buddy) of Dagsboro, DE, and her special nieces and nephews. Dolores will be greatly missed by her extended family, Lord Baltimore Class of 1959 classmates, her St. Georges Church family, and many other friends and neighbors.
A Graveside Service is planned for Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at St. Georges UMC Cemetery in Clarksville, with Pastor Blair Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to St. Georges United Methodist Church; (GeneralFund) 34281 Omar Road, Frankford, DE 19945.
