DONALD PENUEL's Obituary
Obituary of Mr. Donald Penuel:
Donald Penuel, 87, of Dagsboro passed away on October 16, 2016 at the Renaissance Center in Millsboro, DE. He was born on Feb. 10, 1929 in Frankford to the late Coard and Ruth Hudson Penuel. After high school, he entered the US Army and served with the 452nd Armored Field Artillery BTN. He married his sweetheart, Genevieve and together they raised three children. He retired from Showell Farms as an Inspector.
He loved word searches, taking drives and rabbit hunting. He enjoyed socializing and visiting friends, and was devoted to his family. He was a private man, and very polite. He loved sweets! And, knew exactly when the fresh tastee-cakes were delivered. He had to get there early to get the best stuff before it was picked over.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his beloved wife, Genevieve, in 2013, and a son, Jack "Rick" Donaway, in 2010. He is survived by his daughters: Sherry Ann Hudson, and husband Lin, of Dagsboro; and Dawn Truitt, and her husband Mike, of Selbyville. He is also survived by a sister: Ruth Ann Moore, and her companion, Jack. Donald also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Brandon Donaway (Holly); Chad Hudson (Megan); Shane Truitt (Michelle); Jennah Truitt; and seven great-grandchildren: Collin; Rylee; Kyle; Logan; Makenzie; Jaxon; and Lanie. Also surviving are many extended family members and many friends.
A Chapel committal service will be held at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Friday morning at 10:00 AM located at 26669 Patriot Way, Millsboro. Pastor Chuck Reynolds will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Vitas Hospice; 100 Commerce Drive; Newark, DE 19713; or the Delaware Veteran's Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd, Milford, DE 19963.
