Doris Jean Haas' Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mom, grandma, and great-grandma, Doris Haas. Known by her Friends and Family as Dee. She was welcomed home by her late husband, Fred Haas, and all of their fur-babies from the last 80+ years, on February 10th, 2026.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Haas and Laurie Byerley, her grandchildren, Bill Walton, Sarah Byerley, Tyler Haas, Jessica Krause, and Dillon Haas, and her great grandchildren Emma Cordy, Hayden Haas, Miles Nicodemus, Clark Haas, and Nora Nicodemus.
Dee was a multi-talented woman in her home, career, and social life. She was an expert party planner, and you could always count on her to have the best food spread. Her house was decorated to the nines, and she had a way of finding the best balance of maximalist and chic. Her collection of Santa figurines from all over the world should have been seen by all. Dee was always dressed to impressed, never missing her signature accessories or lipstick. In her career, she was always ready to help and never stopped learning how to improve her surroundings. Her social life can only be described as an adventure. She traveled all over the world with her husband and friends. She would frequently take her Red Convertible Mustang out on the town to feel the wind in her hair. Spending time at the beach a must, she had the best tips for how to get the perfect tan. Her happy place was boating on the Chesapeake Bay with the ones she loved most.
Her personality was simply the cherry on top of an amazing woman. She was funny, smart, and wasn’t afraid to stand up for her beliefs. Something that was passed down to all of us. She had a gift that not everyone possesses — the ability to truly listen. Sometimes she would fill the air with laughter that made everyone feel lighter. Other times, she would sit quietly, offering wisdom when it was needed most, or simply a steady, understanding presence. With Dee, you always felt heard.
Dee loved many things, but if I had to pick just a few it would be: Travel, Dogs, Movies, Cooking, and her Family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped, the lessons she shared, and the love she gave so freely. We are all going to miss her. However, I am at peace knowing that Fred and her are sharing a glass of wine on the water with the low hum of the Rumrunner in the background, talking about the amazing family they created.
