Doris Elizabeth Simpler
1935 – 2025
Doris Elizabeth Simpler went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89.
Born to the late Norman Lowe and Margie Lowe Lewis, Doris lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community. She retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service at Millsboro Nursing Home, where she was known for her compassion and kindness.
Doris enjoyed the simple pleasures of life — camping and boating, dinners out with family and friends, and cheering on go-kart races with her beloved husband, Norwood. She was a faithful member of Blackwater Fellowship Church in Frankford, DE, where she found joy in worship and especially in listening to gospel music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norwood; her infant daughter, Kathy; and her brother Preston Lowe and his wife, Margaret.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Donna Flood (Chuck); sisters-in-law Janet Smith (Robert) and Sylvia Mears; her special friend, Mark Cahall; and many extended family members and cherished friends. Doris also leaves behind her beloved granddog, Tucker, and grandcats, River and Diego, who brought her much happiness.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Blackwater Fellowship Church in Frankford, DE. Pastors Dennis Bradford, Perry Mears and Joe LeCates will officiate.
Doris will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering faith. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
