DOROTHY EVELYN BYRD's Obituary
Obituary of Mrs. Dorothy Evelyn Byrd: Dorothy Evelyn Byrd, of Millsboro, DE departed this life on May 16, 2015 at the age of 87 in Conyers, Georgia. She was born in Millsboro to the daughter of the late Herbert L. Burton, Sr., and Florence E. Burton on November 16, 1927. Dorothy was employed as a cafeteria worker for the East Millsboro Elementary School, where she retired. Dorothy was married to Elton Byrd (deceased) for 48 years. Out of this union they had two children: Dennis E. Byrd (deceased) and Cynthia Byrd-Allen, of Conyers, GA. She is survived by a daughter: Cynthia Byrd Allen, and her husband, Richard; two grandsons: Richard and Rylan Allen of Conyers, GA; Six brothers: William E. Burton, of Philadelphia, PA; Charles T. Burton, of Millsboro; John E. Burton, of Selbyville, DE; Oliver V. Burton, of Dagsboro; H. Nelson Burton, of Dover; and Joseph L. Burton, of Wilmington. In addition, three sisters: Martha V. Wise; Faye E. Burton, both of Millsboro; and Princess C. Purnell, of Georgetown, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, May 30 at Dickerson Chapel AME Church, DuPont Highway, Millsboro, DE where friends may call one hour prior for visitation.
