Obituary of Dorothy Donaway Mitchell
Dorothy Ruth Donaway Mitchell, 90, (formerly of Millsboro, DE) passed away at the Manor House ACTS in Seaford, DE on Saturday March 9th. Her husband, Howard R Mitchell died June 4, 1998.
She was born on August 19, 1928 to the late Charles B. and Estella Jane More Donaway. Dorothy was a self-employed Beautician, operating Dot's Salon for many years as well as an apartment manager in several locations across the country. She attended Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury in recent years.
Dottie (to her friends) loved card games, painting and socializing with her friends at the Manor House. Her hobbies were knitting, watching sports, especially women's basketball and softball, which she played in high school and for the Sweetheart Bakery as an adult and making floral arrangements for friends and family.
She is survived by her three children: Donna Kaye Nickles (Rick) of Easley, SC; Stephen Theis (Patricia) of Matthews, NC; and Joseph W. Wilson, of Seaford, DE. She has 10 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Millsboro Cemetery, State Street, Millsboro, DE. Pastor Tom Bunting will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis, TN 38105 in her honor.
