Obituary of Mr. Douglas J. Davis
Retired Shaolin Kung Fu Instructor/Master Counselor
Douglas Jerome Davis, 62, of Milford passed away unexpectedly at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital on August 27, 2016. He was born in North Hampton County, Virginia on November 13, 1953 to the late John Heath and Elizabeth Davis. He led an interesting life as a counselor for the Department of Corrections in Delaware, and had previously served as a probation and parole officer. He was a member of Kingdom Empowerment Christian Church in Seaford, DE. He served as a Board Member of Slaughter Neck Community Center, Coverdale Community Center, and Pinetown Community Center. He spent his life as a mentor, tutor, counselor, and judge of Kung Fu contests. He is survived by his children: Lavenia Suarez (LaMar) of Millsboro, DE; Darius Davis, of Millsboro; DE; and Tyraa Felton (Joseph) of Milford, DE. He also has three sisters: Cynthia Epps (Edward) of Oakland, CA; Janet M. Davis, of Milton, DE; and Stacey Walker (Damon), of Frederica, DE and two brothers: Floyd G. Davis, of Georgetown, DE and Manuel Davis, of Milton, DE. There are nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his special friend, Matilda Santos, of Wilmington, DE and a god-daughter: Wanda Hicks, of Felton, DE and a god-son: Dhasan Muhammad. An evening of viewing and visitation will be held on Friday evening, September 2, 2016 from 6 PM till 8 PM at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE. On Saturday, September 3, a viewing and visitation will be held from 11 AM until 1:00 PM at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 South East Front Street, Milford, DE. A funeral service and celebration of his life follows at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mason McGill officiating. Interment follows in Milford Community Cemetery. Flowers are accepted, or memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House.
