Obituary of Elberta Christine Murray
"Dolly"
On Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 Elberta Christine McReynolds Murray, "Dolly" was called home to the Lord. Dolly was surrounded by and survived by her husband of 58 years, Capt. Robert Elwood Murray, Sr.; Wanda Murray (Cliff Murray) of Millsboro, DE; Capt. Robert Elwood Murray, Jr. (Dawn Murray), of Glenolden, PA; Cynthia Murray, of Dagsboro, DE; Sandra Graves (David Greaves), of Woodlyn, PA; Shawn Murray (Barbara Murray), of Dagsboro, DE; Lisa Murray, of Honeybrooke PA; Nicole Curran (Gerald Curran), of Norwood, PA. Dolly is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Clifton R. Murray; Brandon Murray; Shannon Murray; Samuel Adams; Megan Schlegal; Kyle Schlegal; Shawn Murray; McKenna Murray; Keira Murray; Robert Elwood Murray, III; Abbigail Curran; and Gerald Curran III. She also has one great-grandchild, Nolan DeWald.
Dolly lived a fulfilling and inspiring life. Dolly was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, holding the rank of Captain. Throughout her life she served her community, family, and God. She served as a foster parent, and mentor to underprivileged children and volunteered for Vacation Bible School. She was an avid horse enthusiast, and in her later years enjoyed racing and raising harness race horses out of Dagsboro, DE. Dolly will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A time of viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 11:00 AM till 12:00 Noon at the Mariner's Bethel United Methodist Church in Ocean View, followed by a funeral service at Noon. Interment will follow in the Millville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mariner's Bethel United Methodist Church, 81 Central Ave, Ocean View, DE 19970.
