Elwood R. Banks, Jr., 72, of Ocean View, DE, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 27, 1952, in Milford, DE, Elwood was the son of the late Elwood R. and Helen (Derrickson) Banks. He spent his career as a dedicated control room operator at the Indian River Power Plant, where he was known for his steady presence and strong work ethic, and was a member of the IBEW Local 1307 Chapter.
Elwood cherished the simple pleasures in life. He found joy in gardening, taxidermy, and had a deep love for traveling—especially to Florida—and most of all, treasured every moment spent with his family. His kind heart and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Jacqueline Passwaters Banks; two loving daughters, Melissa Bergstrom (Eric) and Crystal Cordrey (Brian), both of Millsboro, DE; and his five beloved grandchildren, Madison Sockriter, Kameron Sockriter, Gavin Cordrey, Evan Cordrey, and Elizabeth Bergstrom. He also leaves behind his sister, Benita Davidson (Eddie) of Dagsboro, DE, along with his niece, Amy Elliott and family; his nephew, Arthur Davidson and family; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Elwood was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with his wishes, services will be private.
