Obituary for Everett Lee “Jake” Truitt
Everett Lee Truitt, fondly known as Jake, born at home in Laurel, DE, on September 2, 1940, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on March 31, 2025, in Laurel, DE. He was the son of the late Elisha and Ethel (Wharton) Truitt.
After graduating from Millsboro High School, Jake began a long career as a dedicated delivery driver for UPS. Outside of work, he found joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, maintaining his yard, cutting grass, farming, and riding his beloved tractor.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Phillip David Truitt, William Truitt, and Jeannette Graves. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lois Ann (Adams) Truitt; their children, Stephen Truitt, Stephanie Truitt, and Carrie Coleman (Steve); grandchildren, Jake Thomas Truitt, Austin Scott Truitt, Mia Paige Truitt, Alexis Anne Irwin, Megan Ellen Montgomery, Michael Patrick Gerhard, Tristan Wyatt Coleman, and Dallas Starr Bryce; and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Amelia, Abigail, Olivia, Harry, Jacob, Raylen, Harper, Liam, Lincoln, Maverick, Elsie Jo, and Grace.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossroad Community Church Dagsboro, located at 29618 Armory Rd., Dagsboro, DE 19939, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private.
Jake's warmth, love for his family, and dedication to his work and home will be forever cherished by those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Crossroad Community Church, 29618 Armory Rd, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
