FLORENCE A MASTERS's Obituary
Florence A. Masters of Lewes, DE formerly of Wadley, GA passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013. She was 92 years old. She was born on December 26, 1920 to the late Jesse S. and Pearl Moore May. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Colonel Edgar James Masters, and seven siblings. Miss Florence was a beautiful, gracious southern lady who had a friendly word for everyone she encountered. Born in Wadley, Georgia, she travelled and lived in many places from Hawaii before statehood to New York. Friends and family were treated to her amazing pies, notably black bottom and lemon meringue. She enjoyed ""getting up and going"" and was an enthusiastic card player. She found the courage to carry on for 25 years after the death of her loving husband. Miss Florence forgave and forgot a wrong quickly, preferring always to see the positive. Her family strives to carry on in her spirit. She is survived by three daughters, Christine Masters of Lewes, DE; Alice Masters and husband Peter Friebe of Ossining, NY; Susan Bills and husband John of Eads, TN, and a son, David Masters of Ossining, NY; sisters, Roslyn Dobbs and Marjorie Stevens and six grandchildren; Gian Neffinger, Andy Masters, Jessica Masters, Jenna Masters, Benjamin Masters and Claire Bills. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Wayne Battle of Wadley, Georgia. A private burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Florence's memory to the Cadbury Foundation, 17028 Cadbury Circle, Lewes, DE 19958 or to a charity of your choice.
