We only met Floyd one time but enjoyed the time we were privileged to spend with him. We are friends with Bessie and Roger in SC. We will be praying for the family in the coming days asking that God give them the peace that only he can.
Dear Family of Floyd, My wife Debbie and I would like extend our sympathies to you on the passing of Floyd. You don't know us but we have two memorable days with Floyd we want to share with you. The first was a Saturday in April around 2004 when Floyd drove into our Edgewater Estate community yard sale at 8am and spotted our baby blue 1963 Ford Galaxy 500 convertible which was the only thing we were selling. He stopped his red pickup and left Gail inside and sauntered over to the 63 and said "are you really selling this?...I always wanted a 63 convertible". We negotiated and he went back to the car and ran it by Gail who gave it the thumbs up. He gave me $200 to hold it and took off for the bank in Georgetown to get the cash. When he returned his face was beaming as we put the top down, snapped on the boot cover, and he got in to drive it off. But he wanted to know the history of the car and my wife tearily told him it was her Mom's and she left it to us and made her promise that if we ever parted with it we would make sure the new owner loved it like we did. Debbie also told Floyd that her Mom was looking down and keeping an ever watchful eye on that 63. Floyd said to her " Don't you worry about a thing Darling" as he drove off waving. The second day we encountered Floyd was the Lewes Christmas Parade where big as day Floyd was driving the 63 down Second Street in the parade and spotted Debbie in front of the Rose and Crown and shouted to Debbie "I kept my promise" as he pointed to the Continental spare tire kit he had found and added to the rear. He was so proud and so was Debbie! Knowing Floyd we know he left the 63 to some loving Sussex Countian.. Rest In Peace Floyd. Wayne and Debbie von Stetten. Lewes
He was a good man and a excellent boss. Rip Mr. Floyd
My memories of Floyd are too many, too fond and go back to far to condense here. The years of working with him on the Country hoe downs in Georgetown were a joyful time. Floyd was a great man and the wisdom he shared with me back then still sticks with me today. He probably didn't even know he was imparting wisdom on me. Floyd, you will be missed, but I will see you again in our Heavenly home. Leave the light on for me. I'll join you some day.
My condolences to the family and friends for their loss.I had the privilege of being in two Country Shows with Mr. Megee. I truly loved to hear him sing "Teddy Bear". It would stop me in my tracks just to listen to him. You could hear the emotion in his voice which always brought tears to my eyes, while he sang. I work in the office of Nanticoke Fence and remember him visiting the office. He was such a gentle man and respectful to anyone he talked to. He is gone but his impact will not be forgotten. Mr. Megee has left my heart saddened with the loss of his talent for hearing this song one more time. He will be sadly missed.Wendy Prettyman
