We did not know "Miss Francis" personally but we know one connected to her who fell from the same fully formed, deeply rooted, ever-strong, substance bearing tree, Mrs. Louise Becton. As First Lady of Prairie View A&M University when her husband General Julius W. Becton, Jr. was president, Lady Becton was in every way, a first class lady. She gave of her time and talent to students, faculty, staff and alumni. It was clear that she had been born and bred of people of faith, strong belief in education, generosity, superior intelligence. Now we see from her sister's bio that such values marked this family and for that we at PVAMU shall always be grateful. Yes, we are sorry to see Lady Becton and her family face such a loss but we are rejoicing that such as one was in their midst long enough to inculcate in siblings,children, grands and great grands a dedication to what makes life worth living---service to God and service to humankind.
